I was so shocked and dismayed by the inhumane treatment of the current wave of immigrant families by the current administration. I painted this piece as a reaction to what is happening at our borders right now.

The Filipino American War was not taught when I was going to school in the Philippines or the United States. Painting text about the war help me learn more about it so as not to forget. Painted on this piece is a Sarimanok, a mythical Filipino bird, fighting with a bald eagle.
